Hi from Baron on Sunshine Coast

A newbie here introducing myself to the forum. I am retired and after getting involved with my sons home brewing, which I find interesting, thought I would like to try distilling. Talked to a brew shop, ended up with a T500 and bought the Turbo wash stuff and off I went. Although I realise that what I have produced after 5 runs of turbo stuff is fairly average I am hooked and want to learn more and do more adventurous distilling.
My current aim is to get a pot still and start making spirits from scratch but before then learn as much about my reflux still and produce the best possible neutral from it. I have run my last ever turbo wash today and have just bought some EC118 yeast and am preparing to do my first TWP wash. Lots of questions, lots of reading, lots of learning but very interesting and the results can be very enjoyable.

Gday Baron, lots of people here started with the t500, including me. Learn to run it the proper way and she’ll make a nice clean neutral, just slowly.

Welcome to AD Baron.

The T500 isn't such a bad still and is capable of making very good neutral provided you run it right. Here's some essential reading to help you get the best out of it. You've already made the first step in the right direction by ditching the turbos.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Gday Baron and welcome! :greetings-waveyellow:
Totally agree with the ditching of the turbo crap... i often wonder how many people give up this great hobby after tasting the turbo stuff and thinking thats as good as home distillation gets.
Yours eyes will be opened with a pot still and all the flavours you can create without relying on essences... definitely have a read up on doing cuts too when you get a chance.

G'day mate and welcome to the forum :greetings-waveyellow:

You've taken the best step you'll ever make in home distilling by going away from the turbos :handgestures-thumbupleft: . You can buy an adaptor from 5 star that will allow you to put a pot still on your t500 boiler. You can then either buy or build a simple pot still and you will be able to do both neutrals and brown spirits :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Good luck
