Hi, I'm brand new to distilling. I decided to get a still when I refused to pay $45 for a 500ml bottle of Limoncello that is sold for abour 6 euros in Italy (30% spirit, lemon peal, sugar, water). I know I have to do a lot more drinking than I already do to catch up, but it's the principle of the thing. My preferred drinks are Strongbow, JB & Coke, and Limoncello. I will be making JB and Limoncello. I may be making Strongbow.

Like many newbies I bought a T5000 and a SS filter. I've run my first batch. A turbo wash of 6kg sugar. I got 2.5L of about 91% ABV with smells :)) .

I discarded about the first 100ml. I then flame checked the next 25ml and it was clear blue flame so I kept the rest, smells and all.

I have a whole bunch of questions regarding tomato paste washes, cuts, dribble rates, distilling turbo wash twice. And there's more.

Thanks in advance for your replies and apologies in advance for dumb questions.

I was just reading on a Facebook page that they recommend NOT making cuts when running TPW through a T500 :angry-banghead:

Oh and regardlesa of what others say you cant filter heads out only tails. Heads have smaller than ethanol molecules and can not be filtered out. Tails are biggerand can be filtered. So it will smell purr but will smack you round the head after drinking a bottle with a ripper headache..
