Hi from the Sunshine Coast!

Postby andybaby » Mon Oct 21, 2019 5:16 pm

I've just moved up to Noosa hinterland from cold old Melbourne, where I had been learning how to hotrod a T500 with a buddy.
He wanted to keep the setup so I am in the process of making a 3 inch copper neutral still on a beer keg boiler with 3500W element.
Mainly interested in refining my gin and bourbon skills, and as my still is modular, I will make a potstill head for running the gin and whiskey.
I have been lurking for a while here now, and want to thank you all for the knowledge that I have gained.
Some incredibly resourceful people here, I feel welcome already!
Cheers
Andy

Welcome Andy :handgestures-thumbupleft:

3500 W element is pretty damn serious, do you have a 15 amp circuit where you'll be stilling? It'll be fine for what you want to do but you'll need to control its output. For that you'll want a voltage controller.

Make sure you put up photos of your build :handgestures-thumbupleft:

equipment: Eve - 4" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (sieve plates), 330 mm packed section on a keg boiler with 2 x 2000 W elements.
Currently having a makeover: 2" x 4 plate solid state bubbler (1" bubble caps, no sight glasses...maybe not for much longer!) on a bain-marie boiler.

Welcome to the forum.

I agree with with db. You will definitely want a power controller for that element :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Good luck with the build.

We’ll definitely need pics of that build.
