Hi all,

I'm new here and new to the distilling hobby. I'm from Brissy. :greetings-waveyellow:

I recently purchased a copper alembic pot still like this one.

I'm really keen to make gin while learning the art of distilling to make a good quality spirit.

I will slowly look into making my own reflux style still to produce a good neutral spirit.

Looking forward to learning and co tributing where I can.

Happy new year to all!!!

Cheers,

GINKING

Hi Ginking, thanks for posting up a welcome thread.
You’ll find it hard to make gin with a still like that but all the best.
Btw I had to remove your link as it breached the advertising rules of the forum but I added a pic instead.

Welcome Ginking.

Expanding on Doubleuj's comment, the making of a pot stilled gin is a multipart process whereby you make a neutral base then use that to macerate your botanicals before performing a final distillation to make your gin. That still will be fine for the last part of the process but you'll need a reflux column for the first part. Most commercial Gin manufacturers buy their neutral bases in rather than making it themselves BTW.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Welcome mate! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Have a good look through the newbies corner... some great stuff in there that may answer some of your questions on how to go about this great craft.
You'll prob find yourself going there a lot as you come up against speed humps along the way.
