Gday mate, welcome to the forum, read up all the threads in the newbies corner and try your hands at cuts, they’re easy once you’ve tried and will make your product all the better.

Welcome to AD Slosho.

The T500 isn't such a bad still if you run it right; it's just that many people tend to outgrow it's capabilities fairly quickly.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

Brew barrels? Fermenter? You def dont want your spirit in plastc. Stainless glass or oak barrwls only. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I reckon you'll need a fair few runs on the T500 to fill a 50 litre keg with good neutral. Demijons might a better option.

Thanks professor green iv been doing 2x25 litre washes a fortnight...with cooling i am using a water regulator as im on rain+bore water and a seperate rain water for drinking and use for fermenting....the days are pretty warm could i put icy water in a tub then place the bottom of regulater in it to maybe cool the water a little.....or maybe lay a few meters of hose in icy water before the regulator would it be too cold for the columb?

Welcome Slosho

My local HBS sells them in a pack of 6 for $60 which I reckon isn't too bad, then you just have to buy the swing tops @ $1.90 each which brings the total up to $71.40.

This is how I buy them and find that having a good stock of glass demijohns on hand is very handy for small batch oaking.

If you do go down the demijohn route, I would recommend silicon bungs rather than the swing tops as the seals on the swing tops I've seen have been rubber.

KMart do some awesome 4L Cork top jars for $7
https://www.kmart.com.au/product/3.8l-cork-top-bottle/1177354?&gclid=Cj0KCQjwpLfzBRCRARIsAHuj6qURisDShEJCcklYO2C_jyM9j_5UfbN0u2d_ixE-BRJXsS3JUracdYgaArfaEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
If you age enough spirits in them and give the a slosh every now and then they pick up a wonderful smell and colour in the cork :D
