If I get a wash on Saturday will I be able to store it until the still arrives. Who has nutri grain on special. I won’t even go into the number of shops I visualised looking for large glass jars.

Loss of sleep is definitely a side affect after being bitten by the bug.. :D

Congratulations Wellsy, that's great choice with an easy upgrade path should you want to expand to a bubbler later on.

Apologies crow, itoldyou guys I had not slept last night.
I keep looking at the tracking and it is still in Queensland , done thise bloody northerners stop working at 5:00 lol.
After talking to Andrew I will put a simple vinegar wash through the still when it arrives, so it looks like tomorrow I put down my first wash :)
The wash of choice is the nutritrain with raw sugar, then when the still gets here I am ready to go :)
I have even been to k mart and got a couple of 3.5 litre jars with a tap on them. So many variations to concoct so little time

Thanks professor it was your advice that had me explore the fsd pot distiller, I really appreciate that as the reflux I was looking at was never going to do what I wanted. I actually made the comment about upgrading to a bubbler that made Andrew suggest the 50 litre boiler with 4 inch as that was upgradable and the 25 was at its limits with the pot
I spent heaps more than I ever intended but it was more an investment In future opportunities than a simple buy this and then look to see what I could do with it.

Hey welsy just make sure the taps on the jars are not plastic. If they are all is not lost jump on ebay you can get stainless ones :handgestures-thumbupleft:

You must have known because they are, I did not give that a second thought. Rookie mistake I guess :)
The other thing I noticed is the lids are not airtight so that fluid will flow when you open the tap. Now I am worried about evaporation. The professionals call this gods share when it evaporates from the barrels when stored. Quite frankly if he wants some he can contact fsd himself and learn as we have had too. I will be watching closely and if it starts to evaporate I will just use them for storing strip runs and cover the lid with glad wrap. Making sure of course it does not contact the spirit.

So the only answer is to get air tight lids , or drink quickly hey.

I have been using alfoil, there is a reaction with ethanol at room temp, but apparently it is of little consequence.
I have yet to see any oxidisation on what i have used, so Im hip to use it at this stage until i see anything different - had some on some 70% for a year or so, cant see any effects, only using it on flagons and regular jars, so not a huge surface area

These jars are designed to be a loose fit so the fluid pours from the tap easily. So once I get the stainless taps I will probably just use them for short term storage or mixing cuts.
Of course the other option is to drink it quickly :)

I have never known a place to be so cold all the time. It gets all th3 cold but none of the snow. I assume it gets better in summer once the water thaws out

Hey I was born and bred in Creswick 68 years ago. Its not the coldest place in Victoria. Daylesford and Tylden are worse, except if your in Ballarat and that wind whips down Sturt St. :text-lol: Now living on the Murray River North of Bendigo.
