Hi from WA this is me.

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Hi from WA this is me.

Postby Grey Elf » Thu Oct 15, 2020 11:16 am

This is where I am at with distilling.
I am reading what I can and learning as I go and improving my craft. I am currently studying bourbon techniques which include 1) all grain, 2)mixing sugars grain and 3)essence and aging all on oak. I am getting feedback and comparing the results.
My experience is a bit driven because I am a beer judge and work in a home brew store. I have been brewing all grain beers and making mead for many years now and have won a few medals. I have been distilling for a couple of years now. I suffer from too many projects and experimentation.
Anyway enough about me...time to start reading. Hi to you all.

G'day mate, and welcome to the rabbit hole! Cupla things...
As Bluc said, your AG experience will be good for you, but don't get hung up on sterilising everything like you do with beer, in fact, I hardly sterilise my stilling FV's and tools - took me a while to get my head around that! Working in a HBS and armed with your new knowledge will make you a valuable asset as I'm yet to meet anyone in a HBS that knows anything about stilin apart from flogging T500's (which you won't want to do when you start reading about bubblers), Turbo washes and bottles of essence! Cheers. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
