Hello from FNC

Hi everyone. Newby here but looking forward to the journey. I thought with all the knowledge that gathers here, somebody may be able to help me.
My elder brother passed away from NHL 12 months ago and left me a Turbo 500 boiler with a copper Pure Distilling column. After 12 months of just sitting there, I'm wanting to pull it all apart and give it a good clean. Trouble is I can't undo the brass nut that separates the column from the boiler lid. Looks like its seized. I'm wondering what best practice would be. Soak it for ages in a more condensed acitic solution and see if that unfreezes it, use heat with map gas, or use a fluid like Inox to try and loosen it. Maybe someone has a better idea. I don't want to try anything yet until I get the best solution. Cheers everyone.

Try putting some water into the boiler and heat up that way.
Wear gloves and try undo the nut like that.

Thanks Bluc. There is a silicon ring on the topside of the lid, so I guess that eliminates that process. I think I'll go Stigs way and run some water through it and see if that does anything. Cheers blokes.

Well Stig. Your suggestion worked a treat. Seemed to free everything up and it all came apart quite easily. Noted that there was plumbers tape around the thread. I get why we use that tape but is that necessary for the still? Don't want to contaminate any brews just in case. Thanks fellas ^:)^

I’m glad it worked , some times the simplest idea is the easiest :handgestures-thumbupleft:
