What a learning curve

Say Hi and introduce yourself

What a learning curve

Postby bennybackyard » Sun Aug 19, 2012 4:56 pm

Hi everyone,
I was introduced to distilling by a friend. I have done two batches to date using his store bought still.
We did produce a neutral spirit but there was something not quite right and thanks to all of you and this forum I now know that there are many ways to make a better spirit.
I am looking forward to my first Tomato Paste wash and the possibility of building a reflux/pot still myself. I don't have the tools at hand so I may pay someone to help me with that.
Did I mention I was in Perth WA. ;-)
Anyways thanks everyone I will continue reading, learning and will ask questions when it goes over my head (Some things have already).
Peace
Ben

Welcome !!!

Sounds like you are well on your way. The tomato paste wash is a winner you won't be sorry you tried it.

Just give it plenty of time to clear before you run it.

Have fun.

Cheers

welcome and peace to you Mr Backyard
and I hope you continue to learn heaps here....

TPW is a good way to provide a wash for neutral....so is a reflux still.
Take your time mate, work out what you want to drink and the rest will become clear over time for sure.
