Melbourne

Say Hi and introduce yourself

Melbourne

Postby hasenpfeffer » Mon Jan 07, 2013 7:54 pm

About two weeks ago I left my home in California and I am now a resident of Melbourne.

I like it! Except for the few superhot days when due to the unreasonable heat I have been spontaneously combusting. Also I have a sunburn. But the city is beautiful, pretty much everyone I've met has been wonderful, and the food is excellent.

I don't have any brewing equipment with me--it's all being shipped on a slow boat. But if I can get it together soon I'll grab a food-safe garbage can and start something up for when it gets here. It feels weird not having anything bubbling.

Thanks folks!

I've got an Essential Extractor Pro which I've been almost entirely running as a pot still. I'd like to build something from scratch eventually, but it'll be a while I think.

I'm a few blocks from Vic Market. I'll look up the pickle vat guy--thanks for the tip.

Best smallgoods in aust at the vic market.
Myer windows at christmas, moomba, grand final (afl), great coffee in carlton, eclectic muso's in brunswick, heaps of muti cultural stuff.
Public transport inner city is good, but its only good in the city.
Good motorbike shops in elisabeth st.
China town's cool in its own way.
Welcome down under.

And as for distilling, you lobbed in the right place.

Wait for the Melbourne winter :laughing-rolling:

You could experience that a couple of times a day and it doesn't even have to be winter :)) As the old saying goes, "Melbourne, four seasons in one day".

Greetings HP
Welcome to Oz and the forum. Don't worry about the heat, with Melbourne's notoriously fickle weather, it will cool down soon.

Nice area around the Vic Markets. Great place for groceries:)

Mate, after 10+ years in Brisbane I still can't get used to the blasted humidity. Plus, I miss the snow, even if we do get pretty average stuff in Oz
