Hi there, have been stilling a bit here and there over last couple years, got some aging, my oldest is my first rum coming up to 2 years now(was awful at first but coming good now), have had a few swings at rum, struggling to make a good one. my finest drop is 6 gen uncle jessies(18 month old), got various gens of that aging. my next brew in line will most likely be a single malt whiskey, and probably a bourbon aswell. anyhow, will seeyas around the forum. cheers, doug.

cheers andy, that rum recipe will be my next brew when i get around to it. i make 40 litre washes x 6 generations, that produces a fair amount of product + beer that i make aswell, is plenty of booze, so there is surplus to put aside for aging. yes made still myself, not alot of work put into it, ie wrapping pvc tube around it and plastic garden fittings, but it all works the way it should. Well, was January 25th last post.... I haven't stilled for quite some time, finally got around to putting a wash down today, mcstill rum.
Has been a couple of hours and fermentation is away. I'm back on the boat :handgestures-thumbupleft: time to dust of the old girl and give her a flogging.

Well stripped the second gen. today. First gen. strip went smoothly. Second, the boiler was hissing and puked during hearts and tails.
So I have a clear jar of heads and a brown jar of hearts and tails. Is this abnormal? Is third gen going to be worse?

Very normal for a puking wash, although it can be caused by a couple of things like over filled boiler or your wash not having fermented to dry.
