Hi from QLD

Postby Mick016 » Fri Jan 25, 2013 2:21 pm

Hi all, my name is Mick as the profile name suggets, I live an hour west of Brisbane in a smallish country town. Been distilling with a mate for a couple years and built my first cm still about 12 months ago. The Column is 2 inch copper 1000mm tall with a 50L keg and a 2200W element. Have recently been looking into making something new and improved and have been looking at a LM/VM reflux so I have found the site very helpful and useful. Thanks.

Mainly just myself now but I have just been doing a neutral spirit and adding essence , consistanly get 90% and dilute to 40% filter and polish it. Thought we were onto a pretty good thing til I recently learnt of a LM/VM reflux and smelt, tasted and saw the results and learnt a cm prob not the best choice for what I was doing. But I am keen to keep the cm employed and start trying the rums and whiskeys. The more digging I do the more involved and determined I am to keep improving and learning.

Yeah the rain is still falling which is good for us, been a steady fall of it all day. Got a weather warning before of 125k winds and 100+ ml of rain tonight so it's the cricket and searching the forums for me tonight and hopefully finding info on LM/VM reflux and being able to retire the filtering system
