Hi there I have been lurking and studying the posts in this forum for a few months. I try to read quite a few everyday mainly with a selfmade bourbon or Ouzo in hand.
I am up to my 12th Wineo's sugar wash and finding it ideal for what I want. I have run two Birdwatchers which turns out as just good. I run four thirty litre fermenters staggered five days apart using heater belts and temp. controllers used in keeping Bearded Dragon lizards
Lucky me I have stolen my younger son's UltraPure Potstill while he shifts to a country property (might not give it back until I build a still for myself).
He is Turgid Turbo all the way!
I have made up two Turbo batches for him and I have got to say what a foul smelling brew they are.
Had no compalaints from the wife up till then about smells until the Turbo batches. That got me banned from inside the house out to my shed.
I have just sourced American Oak offcuts from a barrel maker nearby at a really good price and currently have around 20 litres oaking (heaven).
Also I am trying toasted/charred Silver Birch (Betula Pendula) heartwood around 8 years old from my wood turning stocks.
Very subtle at one week and a lovely golden straw colour. Time will tell on this but looking good so far.
My favourite distilling comment is from the wife - "just how much of this are you planning on drinking this Christmas" Answer - "It never goes off!" chuckle doesnt last long enough in the glass....
Love this forum and all the info it contains.
