Gday people,
I have been looking to improve my brewing and every thing I look at online brings me to this forum. I have been brewing using my reflux still and am making about 15-20 l of 40% per fortnight. I was given the still from a family friend and he has showed me the basics and tells me that I know everything I need to know and not to listen to the guys at my local brew shop as the don't know anything which I highly doubt . I am looking forward to learning new stuff from u guys so sorry for any stupid questions. will search for as much as possible before I go starting threads, cheers boys

Your mate is probably pretty close to the mark when he says to ignore the home brew shop guys... They will want to sell you expensive yeast that makes your spirit taste bad, expensive filters to try to remove that taste, and expensive dextrose that you don't really need.

Welcome to the best hobby distilling forum in the world. You'll find everything you need to know right here :)

does that mean after I have run it through the still? very new to the terminology , each time I cook my 20 l of wash I get about 4-6 L of 70-80% from the still, water it down to about 40% and get 7-9 L of 40% . I run 2 wash buckets at a time so each fortnight I come up with a lot of booze
