Hi from south of perth

Hey everyone.

I'm sitting in the kitchen on the farm putting my very first birdwatchers through a borrowed turbo 500.

I've been reading for a few months and my brother Outlaw lent me his still. I'm looking forward to get further and fisher along in the hobby and have already started planning my own bubbler.

Anyone in the peel region of WA shout out. I'm looking forward to taking a bottle or 2 down to the fire station and seeing if it passes the test with my fellow fire fighters.

Thank you for the welcome. I had to get the misses and her super nose to help sniff out the differences.. I think I made too many cuts, I seem to have a heap of number jars on the bench..lol :D

Thats fine mate the more the better :handgestures-thumbupleft: this will help you really define your fractions. As for the misses my just screws her nose up if I ask her to have a smell. She calls me the mad scientist when I'm doing my cuts :laughing-rolling: enjoy mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Ok. I'm onto my second tpw and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.. I'm making cuts and my 3rd and 4th 250ml jar still smells like acetone and even when brought down to 40% will strip the hide off your tongue...

Can it be this stupid t500? Or am I doing it wrong?

3rd or, 4th jar at 250 ml cuts will still probably be heads. Leat all your cuts air for 24 hrs and re check. Sometimes it just needs a little time to settle. Don't be discouraged practice and time will help you to make better and better drink :handgestures-thumbupleft: . How were your temps during the run? This could hold a few answers

I just bottled some Vodka that I forgot about and had airing over a week in fairly high temperatures.
Hearts were really smooth.

I try to keep the water output between 55and 60degs. The reflux temp between 78 and 82..

I haven't been airing mine at all. I've got little kids who get into everything. I'll have to make some shelf space up high.

I'm doing my first run of tpw plus some other c rap and have been splitting into 250ml batches as told by the wise ones. I put 200ml into bbq fuel bottle, and by the 4th jar it was smooth as cat shit on vinyl and my alcometer read at 95% after I colled it a bit. So happy with results - althouth the taste is unusual (pizza base note?)

Pretty sure thats what the instructions say ,,, dont read them ,,, I think a mate from memory that uses t500 said he gets a cleaner product refluxing for longer . 48*C ???? anyways if you relux longer (ie. turn up the water) you will reflux more compressing the heads more , pull the liquid off slowly during the heads and you shouldnt get that smearing allowing you to get a cleaner hearts cut
