Shout out from western Sydney

Postby hightreazon » Wed Feb 05, 2014 6:40 pm

Howdy all,

another clueless newbie who loves to brew beer(AG) and now wants to push his way into the art of distilling.

No hardware as yet, currently working out what options I have for building/finding a non HBS still around Sydney.

Reading and reading and reading through this forum to feel slightly less clueless :-B

Cheers,

Welcome mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

While your AG background will help you immensely here you may be shocked and appalled at some of the distilling wash standards :scared-eek:

Well done for doing some research before running out and buying a HBS rig :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The big question is.......what do you want to make :D

Thanks for the welcome :)

Whilst I would like the ability to make both flavoured and neutral spirits, I honestly think that most of the time it would be neutral, to keep the mrs happy with schnapps and bailey's clones etc...

Like the typical person, i want to do everything :laughing-rolling:

Welcome mate.

You're obviously set up and experienced with AG beers, and if you want to do AG mashes for distilling you'll probably want to try your hand at whiskies...

If you want the best of both worlds, a bubbler is what you need... Can either build one yourself or hit Macstill up for one of his beautiful Five Star Distilling stills.

Thanks Zak.

Whilst I would love to grab a 5-star, I simply cant throw that kind of dosh at a still at the moment... Maybe in the future...

I have some thoughts on it, but i assume it is best to post it in one of the other threads than asking questions in this one?

Cheers,
HT

We can cater for your needs, you could build a very simple pot still from our range of parts for well under $300.

Best to email me through our store, you can find our contact details by following this link
