Hi all
Very new have done 1 tpw going to now try uncle jesse sour mash
Can I use corn from a pet shop or does anyone know we're to get corn in wa

two issues with pet shop corn to consider.

Sometimes the crack used can be fairly large, ok for a UJSM as flavour element but for mashing when you get into it needs to be a little finer to get the most out the corn...starches.
And just give it a good rinse or two in plain fresh water...addresses any sprays used.

You can go up market if you chasing quality....Polenta from supermarkets, flaked corn/maize from your local HBS...there's apparently 2 or 3 well known good suppliers in WA.

I get mine from bio johns in Belmont mate. $30 for 30 kg I think. Works well.

Or stockfeed west in Midvale is good too

wouldnt that give a completely different flavour. like the cornflake wash would give a very different flavour to UJSM.

If your south of the rive the stock-feed place in jandakot has cracked corn
