Welcome :greetings-waveyellow:

You've done the smart thing and read up on the hobby before rushing in. So many of us found this forum after we bought or built a still, then realized we could have had something way better.

Good on ya, enjoy the reading. Just a little tip, bookmark (button is at bottom of page) the threads you think you might need later, cuase your head can only soak up so much I've found :laughing-rolling: .

If rums your game then you might want to start with a humble pot still, this will be the cheapest to build/buy.

Or you could go all out with a bubbler ;-)

Basically better booze and faster and you can make it all with the one rig ;-)

Someone else can elaborate further if they want, I'm on my phone and it's too hard :handgestures-thumbdown:

Benefits?
Very user friendly - Single runs for flavored spirits versus multiple for a pot still = Time saving
Versatile - Add extra or remove plates to 'tune' the product you are producing (or add a packed section and pull some fine neutrals) = Better quality
Speed - Size is a major factor though = Time saving
They are quite mesmerizing too and a joy to run as well.
For me My bubbler was an investment, There are no consumable parts and as long as you look after it, clean it regularly, It should provide many years of consistent results Aiding in the learning process.

If you build or buy a modular bubbler you will never have to build or buy another still again, and you'll be able to use that one still to make any spirit you can think of.

From the day you start making your own spirits, you will be able to make top shelf liquor for under $10 a bottle... You don't have to be a massive drinker to make your money back on a $2000 still.

The only consumables would be the seals (no you can't eat them) but that depends on how often you pull your still down too, they're cheap and easily replaceable & available from our web store.

I doubt a silicone seal will outlast a big chunk of shiny stainless steel :teasing-neener:
