Hi guys, just wanted to say hello and thanks for what you've taught me so far.
My 3rd wash for my T500 has just about cleared, so I'm very much a newbie, and I've learnt more in the last week of reading through this site, than in my first two runs (from which I learnt a lot too).
My big 3 lessons from this site that I'll take forward & no doubt just scratching the surface of what I still need to learn:
(1) Safety - just read the blog & pdf about safety, if other new guys haven't read it, please find it in Newbie's Corner. It's good to be reminded that we are distilling something as flammable as gasoline, using either naked flames or electric heating elements. I knew it, but now I'm thinking about it
(2) Other washes, such as TPW. I just assumed I'd be using a Turbo Sugar wash forever. I never knew there was anything else. Not now, I'll be trying MacStill's TPW recipe for batch 4 and hope/expect I'll never look back
(3) Cuts - I initially believed the T500 blurb about throwing the first 50ml and keeping the rest. I haven't tried cuts as yet, but I will be on my next run
Thanks for all the info out there on this site, I've devoured about 30-40 blogs so far and think this could become a habit . . .
