Hi Everyone, very new to brewing although I've had an unused still for a few years. I think it's a VM. I'd like the chance to get with anyone in the Perth Hill's to learn a bit hands on. I tried this arvo to do a clean by firing up with vinegar and water but was unsuccessful in getting the product to come thru. I do understand I've got a lot to learn and was probably making a silly mistake. Anyway would love any advice, cheers, Craggsie

Welcome Craggsie,

A VM still wont run properly unless it has alcohol in the boiler, and preferably low wines too as they don't work that well from straight wash either.

Check out the link below for a full run down on VM operation :handgestures-thumbupleft:

kiwistillers VM Operation Tutorial.

Cheers,

Mac.

Thanks Mac, I'll read that post cheers. I assume tho that's it's not easy to do a clean then with water and vinegar, unless I block the top temporarily?

No worries, glad to help.

re blocking the top.... when you do this to steam clean the take off & liebig condenser you need to make sure the take off valve is open fully, you don't want any pressure in there at all :handgestures-thumbupleft:
