Say Hi and introduce yourself

New to to potstickers and mashing

Postby Werrty » Mon Feb 23, 2015 7:26 am

Hi I am yet to do a mash wash yet. I am looking for some receipts. I am after a rye whiskey (Canadian club) and a sour mash whiskey (jack Daniels) and instruction on how to make them and how to run the still. I have a turbo 500 with a copper pot still head. Even if I could be pointed in the right direction.

Thanks

Suggest you try the "Search" function in the top right corner.

You'll find a wealth of information in the beginners section as well as the recipes and mashing sections.

Cheers,

Mech.

We're into making better spirits than the headsy stuff you get from the commercial guys, mate.

Try a BWKO and age on charred and toasted oak for something a bit Jacksy... A rye whiskey like CC's is a bit more work but with enough time, definitely achievable.

Stop worrying about copying the stuff you drink now, and start working on perfecting what you're going to drink tomorrow ;-) most of us have cone from drinking Beam/JD's/Bundy/Smirnoff etc etc, and I'd guess that there's a very small percentage that still enjoy drinking the same stuff compared to quality homemade spirits.

Oh, and welcome :D

:text-+1: There was a video done a few years ago by the Doctor and to quote his wisdom "Don't slavishly try and make a Laphroaig or a Bowman, instead make your single malt and make it the single malt of your home. Then you'll have something truly individual."

I agree guys I have been making home brew using a reflux still for about five years and looking at stepping up and making some better spirits. Just need some to start.

There's our 'Tried an Proven' forum...

You could start with a Cornflakes Whiskey or a BWKO (top and bottom recipes) through the pot still, they'll both give you a good start for a bourbon :handgestures-thumbupleft:
