Hi All, Fishboy here.. :^)

G'day All,
I'm a noob, who doesn't own a still yet.
I have been thinking of a turbo 500 but the local HBS said the pure distilling rig was a better buy.

Either way, I am time poor and looking for an easy (ish) entry into things producing a neutral with as good a margin for error as possible.

I have read through the cuts and TPW sections amongst many other sections of the forums.
The info here is great.

However I do have the question of ( without starting a flame war I hope)
What's a good budget reflux still ?
I have a taste for nice bourbons and while I realise that a reflux and essences is hardly likely to give me top notch stuff, I'm hoping it will at least give me something I can drink on a little ice.

Cheers,
Fishboy

I'd get one of mac's new 2inch reflux stills over a the t500 or pure distilling rig :-B
Then you just need to get a keg and one of macs elements or run on gas and your good to go :handgestures-thumbupleft:

G'day mate welcome to the forum, If you are mainly after a bourbon I would suggest a pot still over a reflux unit

Pot still for flavored drinks, bourbon, whisky, rums

Reflux for neutral drinks , vodka or neutrals for infusions :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Is Mac 5 star distilling?
I've had difficulty finding a 2" reflux on that site..
I'm obviously missing something..

Hi. The guys here will steer you right. I was just like you a few months ago, no time bought a 2nd hand reflux still against many suggestions here and ate my pride within a week or 2 because I wanted upgrades lol. Macs 2" boka is looking pretty sweet, I would of really considered it but was too impatient. Mac and his wife have to be the most helpful business owners I've ever dealt with seems effortless to get things from WA to QLD and he puts you onto the right parts you need if you happen to ask for the wrong thing
