Found these 1.25ml glass jugs at Kmart, $3 each.... they are working nicely for collecting my hearts.

I reckon 1.25 litres would be way too big for cuts jars.

I use the 400g moccona jars which are 1.250 to the glass line at the top. It really depends on your still type, boiler size and charge percentage, 40l of 40% pumps out about 20l or so of cuts on a spirit run for my pot still, so I use one big jar for first heads, one or two in the middle and sometimes one or more at the end of tails, this is of course after im up to speed with the how the particular wash generally cuts after many runs.

Different story with a plater thats going to put out a total of 4ish litres from a 40l 10% wash

The trick to cut jars is to get them close to the same height regardless of capacity, the moccona jars are within an inch or so of the tall pasta sauce jars i use, so not ideal, but not terrible in that respect either

Original post was from April 2019.
Just type in glass bottle into their search function. I found these 1L bottles for $3 https://www.kmart.com.au/product/badge- ... le/3378325
When in the product page, scroll down to Find In Store to see whether they still stock it near you.

Following up - K Mart also have 1L bottles with the Grolsch/flip top stopper for $1.50 and a 1L glass bottle with a silicone lid for $2. So plenty of choices there really.

I use the Kmart jugs for my stripping runs. I have marked them at 250, 500, 750 and 1 litre (with permanent marker. I have 2 litre flagons and 1.5l glass juice bottles for low wines so I can take off enough to fill the flagon or bottle.

all my 2l & 3l clip lid jars are from kmart.
these i use to collect strips, general usage and age rum (all with their silicone seals wrapped in 2 layers of PTFE)

my spirit jars (approx 30) are mostly old 250ml jam jars with a few bigger sizes.
i bit the bullet and engraved the measurements on them with my dremmel one afternoon. i was sick of the marker pen.

I have used Fowlers jars from day 1, just keep an eye out on buy/swap/sell pages or the other place as they come up quite often and sometimes you can pick them up for as little as $2 ea.
Mainly use #20 for cuts, sometimes #31 if for the middle of Gin runs!

Cheers,

Chocko
