Mate there are a tonne of coopers and wineries in the Barossa and Mclaren Vale. Start by calling some of them, they will certainly hook you up.

These guys are local:

Or you could try online for delivery, they're Aussie and very helpful:

Yes I reckon - the experts here will give you more advice (crow & RC will hopefully chime in) but you'd want to consider planing back a bit of the wood inside and charring.

If you're serious you might ciao see getting some sherry or wine in there after that and rotating the barrel to soak it up. If you rotate you won't need to fill the whole thing with booze to season it.

This is why most fellas like smaller barrels: easier to re char and fill with sherry/wine than 200L!

200lt or 300lt way to hard...stripping keg and re doing takes days... paramount browns $<$80 American and French

if you value your time perhaps a 65lt or 100lt topping keg might suit.

+1 on paramount browns. That place is gold for South Aussie supplies. I got a 200L plastic fermenter for $27. Sturdy as hell, super cheap.

I dunno if he is still there or not, but see if Andy Broad is still at Yalumba at the cooperage there, he will hook you up. they make their own octaves (90 litre barrels) there.
