Not sure where your located but try Norman scrap metal at Penrith. Happy for walk ins. $7.60 a kg for copper to buy

He moves 3 skip bins of copper a day so he's worth a try. Saw lots of 2" but I wanted 4"

Thanks Flamehawk. I've been doing the runaround of the various scrapyards in Sydney, but I haven't tried Norman as yet. Will do so Monday.

I looked at copper in 3" and gave up when I saw the price, they wanted to sell me 6m for $597. :o

Have a look at stainless, I got 1.5m of 3" x 1.6mm in 316 grade, polished finish for $58 new. Way I see it stainless will be easier to keep cleaner long term, and I can use some copper packing.

Midway metals sell stainless pipe tube and fittings.
Stainless exhaust pipe can be had in the appropriate sizes for probably alot less as well.

It was from a local place http://www.aasm.com.au/up here, but any stainless supplier should have it

I would warn against using exhaust pipe as it's usually not SS304 or SS316, it's a lower grade that contains some very nasty stuff.... have a google on the various grades of staino and make your own mind up, but I'm pretty sure it's SS210 which contains cadmium and other stuff not suitable for distilling.

Cheers,

Mac.

Exhaust tube is usually 409 as this grade can handle the hot\cold a bit better than some stainless and not crack as easy and it is also cheep
