60Ltr Fermenter - Bunnings

Postby Adam007 » Fri Feb 05, 2016 3:17 pm

I spotted these at bunnings today for $59.00

Have never seen them before, and quickly picked one up.

They are exactly the same as most HBS bought 30ltr vessels, in fact my 30ltr lids fit this one. Also has the bung in the side for fitting a tap.

Yeah, im nowhere near Brisbane nor anywhere with a recycler etc.

However generally most people do have a Bunnings store within reach of them, just putting it out there for those not in a big city

Better and cheaper 60l ferment is to get from kingkeg web site

Recently got few of them very happy, recon better than those from bunni , however on picture is same one - but right now they dispatch 60l with handles plus airlock and stuff..

I bought two of the blue 30l drums from bunnings and neither sealed i would be dubious about these now, if you like airtight fermentation, especially since the ones from hbs are the same price and better quality and airtight... just my two cents

Interesting ... Assuming you are talking about keg King I find there delivery costs rule them out entirely. For the hell of it I just chucked two 60L fermenter kits into my 'basket' on there site and the deliver was $60!! So in total $140. Admittedly that's with bung, tap, airlock etc but certainly not cheap.

Yeah I can't see shipping being cheap on these.

I'm positive they are made by exactly the same manufacturer as my HBS purchased 30ltr ones.

$35 per fermenter, obviously $70 for 2 but its another $71 for postage for me.
Good news is that they do discount postage the more you order, it would cost $40.76 to have one posted.

If i was after 2, bunnings would win this round.
But i would have to investigate the local feed stores to see if they had any old big blue HDPE drums laying around.

When I go up to the city (over an hours drive) I can pick up old feed drums for $17 each for 220L and less for smaller ones so I'll be investing in a few next time I'm up that way.

G'Day All

Check out the drum recyclers as well some have food drums with the clamp on lid I got a 100lt drum for $40 and they had the 60lt for $30 and the 30lt for $20 all with the clamp on lid. The 100lt drum is about 120-130lt total so plenty of headroom.

Cheers All
