Hey guys. As I'm gearing up slowly for my FSD bubbler order my mind has been running wild on the best set up for me. To keep me occupied I've been running my usual TPW through my T500. I have a 50L HBS fermenter and I thought it would be a good idea to mix the ingredients with one of those blender sticks. I burnt it out after the first batch :naughty:

So instead of going back to my trusty plastic HBS paddle and stirring for ages I ended up with this...

There are a few different sizes and gauges but it's pretty cheap so if you haven't done so already, give it a go. Just make sure you keep the drill speed LOW :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I started with that exact same thing it worked a treat for many washes, it did eventually give up though. So I got the heaviest one they have mixes 48L of molasses at full speed no trouble at all. The drill gets a bit warm though lol

I must admit I got a heavier one too. Buy once buy right? :-B I sometimes worry about gouging a hole in the bottom of the fermenter so I run it slow and try to keep it off the bottom. My drill warms up too so I'm thinking about attaching it to my impact driver because I think they have more torque?

i use a cheap coles/woolies $10 one, hasnt faulted yet :-D

when i go 200L i will use the paddle though but i will use the larger paddle i used to use in solid plastering, few more $$ but its much better by far

I found this chews up the fruit better with my higher speed Mikita drill.

This works better with my slower speed mixing dewalt drill, the same that pintoshine uses. If that helps at all :handgestures-thumbupleft:

These are all good and they mix well but the coating ends up coming off, into your drink. I knocked up a stainless paddle real easy but only because I couldn't buy one. If anybody has a link to a staino paddle, please post it.

With this bad boy and a 240v drill I can get a vortex going so fast it nearly goes to the bottom of the 200L fermenter

I use one like this for mixing washes and aerating wort before pitching yeast (just about to source an oxy setup though)

Plastic and chromed metal, nothing should flake off as long as you're cleaning it right

Bushy these are pretty good, don't have a coating. May not be actual stainless but it doesn't seem to corrode in a hurry, I always store it dry though.
