Beer Machine

Postby P1ratepat » Sat Mar 25, 2017 9:49 am

Has anybody had any success with these? I have had mine for almost 2 years, my first brew in it was a fail, so I shelved it and went back to my tried and proven bucket ferment. Just pulled the beer machine out 3 days ago cleaned it up, sterilized it, put a beer mix in as per instructions, day 3, fermentation still hasnt started, but is supposed to finish in 3-5 days? Also have had a couple of leaks, found early and re-sealed seems go be no more.

This is what im talking about

Im thinking i will just flush this mix and I'll have a cool little 10l fermenter, or just a piece of abstract art decor. 8-}

Just looks like a fancy fermenter to me, I can't see why it would be any different to using a bucket.

Is the beer recipe you're using in this the same as the successful ones you did in your bucket?

Cheers,

Completely different, I've only ever used the coopers in a tin stuff, this beer machine came with a few bags of everything ready to go just add room temp water, pitch yeast and she's good to go. Well according to instructions anyway. Its a powdered mix, my first attempt fermented for a couple of days then stopped, this one won't even take off. I think I'll scale down a tin to fit that little fermenter and see how that goes.

Maybe the yeast is a bit past it now which I why it won't start. You could grab a sachet of some other kind of beer yeast and drop som to see if it will kick off.

Ultimately though, if you're still keen to use that fermenter, giving Coopers a go is probably your best option since that's what's worked for you in the past.

A mate of mine has a few of those Harvey Norman jobbies, they plug in to mains & seem to work well if you're after easy beer making. His haven't missed a beat.

Ditch it man for a keg setup. None of those ferment and self pressurise things work well

Been thinking I should for a while now, just haven't committed to it.

Put some brewers yeast in it and it started bubbling 4 hours later. Finally something, the Co2 metre is sitting nice and pretty at 10 also. May not be a waste, but will be deco after this run for sure haha.

If your serious about good tasting beer,
get into all grain brewing.
Guy at work experimented with one of those.
Nothing but gas leaks, its a gimmick.

I think if I were getting into brewing now I would just go the path of passive mashing in an esky...it is just so effective and cheap to set up... we now do all our whiskey this way....just a thought.
