I really want to get a webber to play with.

In the meantime, I guess it's sort of the same thing - 8hr slow roasted lamb in the oven.

Will add a finished picture later.

Lots of cheap red wine, fresh rosemary from the garden, garlic cloves, onion and a bay leaf or two. It will be falling off the bone after 8hrs.

Springs in and summer close behind so here's a bump for the BBQ Thread.
Kettle at 250F around 6hrs over mesquite. Salt, pepper, garlic powder rub. 200F internal.
Love me some beef shorties!

That looks beautiful Muppet. I've got a Meat and Booze day coming up on Sunday. Time to fire the still and light the new smoker up.

I've just recently made myself one of these from the kit.

http://grillpro.com.au/big-poppa-drum-smoking-kits/

$165 for the kit, $20 from PB's for a 44Gallon drum.

A fair bit more than a mini webber but it's got a hell of a lot of cooking area on it, and as far as low and slow charcoal smokers go, it's pretty cheap.

Briskets and Pork Ribs are on the menu, it'll be my first lot over charcoal. If I remember, I'll post pics back up here.

Good luck Frothy! UDS pits are supposed to work really well (not used one myself) get ya self a Maverick or Igrill and your laughing. If you find it hard to keep temps stable look into the stokers out there. They are pretty much a temp controlled fan that will automatically control temps. Great for big cooks when your going overnight and want to be alive when guests show up.

Where did you get the kit from?
Everyone that lists prices for that kit are over $300

I was wondering the same. Might have scored it when the $AUD was good.

I had a mate ask me if I wanted to get one, he told me $160....and I just worked out why.

He got this deal: http://www.aussiepitmasters.com.au/viewtopic.php?t=2284

Looks like it was a buy 1 get 1 free deal.

Sorry to be misleading lads.
