If anyone wants to know when I'm going to shine it up, they're more than welcome to come and do it for me. I'll even supply the beer. For now, it can stay ugly while I fill a jar or 20 :handgestures-thumbupleft:

The final piece of the puzzle!

I bandaided the problem for the cleaning runs by reducing down to a 1/2" tap, but I'll chuck this one on for the first real run on Sunday :happy-partydance:

My CFW seems to have stalled at about 1010 but it has cleared up now so I'm gunna run it with a few litres of CFW feints and see what I get :music-deathmetal:

Sunday run day!

About 45L of CFW wash and a few litres of CFW feints thrown in for good measure.

I definitely need another element, she's pretty slow to warm up on one...

Yea he mate, just the one 2400 at the moment. I've got an extra nipple to weld into the keg, it's just the matter of powering it living in a unit!

I might just go to 30L washes in the meantime, and run the feints from the previous wash on top.

I have the same issue with being in a unit. Building a house later this year so the port will be utilised then. Small washes boosted with feints sounds like a good idea. How many litres of feints makes an impact in a 30l wash?

Nah the neighbours are no good. I'll just run an extension lead to the kitchen eventually.

For now, I'm pretty sure the first run is going well! Holding 85-90% all day, RC is knocking everything down with a trickle and is easy to adjust. 1.5 turns of the needle valve from shut to full reflux...

One tiny leak from a seal above the RC that I'll sort out later... a few litres in now and smelling gooooood!

Run and done... ABV started dropping from the 88% it was holding all day, so I bumped the reflux up a bit and got another jar before letting it strip out a litre or so of tails. Could've kept going, it was still pulling north of 60% but I've had enough for the day.

Definitely going to go to 30L washes until I get a second element sorted, I'm going to insulate the boiler a bit better too.

I'm finally bubbling!
