fins on a bubbler cap?

Postby Multipleg » Thu Jan 25, 2024 9:29 am

I tried some google searching but I think I'm missing the names. What are the curved fins attached to some bubbler caps? Who did they become a thing? What do they do? etc...

I own them

Imho waste of time on anything under 6" and possibly then you would only need a few per plate in addition to normal ones and then it wouldn't ballance...

Good idea but i think they take up too much real estate

These came about so the guys using them can throw ridiculous amounts of power (10000+w) at them to finish a run in record time. In reality anybody using a 4in still or smaller are home distillers and do not have the infrastructure needed to run them to their full potential.

4in plates have 3 bubblers per plate.

I have a set of them and also a set of the traditional plates. I like them both and they have different functions for me.

as RC said, you cannot mix and match.

Big rig pretty much nailed it, a 6" has a bit more area to play with, but at yhe end of the day, you don't need that much downcommer.

The design itself is not as efficient as regular alternating downcommers where the refluxed liquid has to go past more steam jets to drop down to the next plate, better efficiency.
