Do u think I should get a 1/2 inch needle valve and have a reducer fitting in between the two or get a 1/4 inch valve also

Just require some help am unsure if teflon tape would be safe around the thread where the ball valve screws onto if it isn't I'll just weld the valve on only problem with that is if it breaks I'll have to cut it of and weld a neww one on

Some of those valves are servicable, i know larger ones are as mine is, so make sure you weld the non servicable end if you do.

I would allways use Teflon tape on any stainless to stainless threads ,as they are known to gaul and seize sometimes wich will destroy ya thread and make removal very hard ,as I have found out the hard way, seems ta happen more with tapered threads like BSP and NPT .I have not found any information wich suggests its use on stills is a problem.Welding the valve is a bad idear as the heat is likely to destroy the seal on the ball.cheers hillzabilly ;-)

:text-+1: teflon is inert in alcohol.ptfe I think is the other name for it some of macs seals are made from it..

Mine are 50mm x 50mm, 1mm x 5mm slots, 3mm slot spacing.

If you've got room between your plates 50mm won't be an issue, yes the higher the caps are above the risers then technically it will hold more vapour than a lower cap but I think that's negligible.
Slots should ideally always be about 5mm high and maximum of 5mm apart.
Haha, Zac beat me too it :laughing-rolling:
