This is what i did.
Roughly:
2" OD of cap with roughly 48mm ID,
35 ID and 38OD for riser,
As for the reversal area where the vapours transfer between the riser and cap about 5-10mm its up to you.
I machined the riser so i didn't have to drill holes but both ways work.
Just make sure that you have enough open area to allow the cap to breath easily.

5star caps are woth it.
I luckily got some on special a while back and they breath far better than mine do, not much in it but.

Not to sure what u mean u didn't drill holes so it's completely sealed?

My "build" thread
About half way down that post are my experimental designs.

Yeah set them up on the little CNC mill we have at work to run while i did jobs for paying customers.
The ones with drilled holes in them are 5star ones.

I might make some with radial slots next time as it would be faster but would require a 4th-axis or dividing head if done manually.

Yeah asked a tradie at work how to do it I'm a second year fitter apprentice so my skills aren't up to it yet or I could just machine it on the lathe drill the centre out and tig a little flat bar on the top and use my boily skills lol

Have you made anything else yet? If not make everything to suit that. Lots people only have 25mm bath depth..

its for my 2" cap I have that at 50mm high so there is a 10 mm gap between the riser and cap I have not made the cap yet just cut pipe to solder the top on the cap

Why would 40mm tall risers not work?

40mm will work.
Most people use a 20-25mm riser height because a deeper bath depth might remove more flavour apparently.
But whatever, go for gold.

Hmm confused now well suppose if it strips to much flavour I can remove a module I think?

If I cut the shaded area of the riser like such it will bring it down to 25mm would this design work

Forgot to mention I haven't put any holes in it yet as I'm not sure which way to go

Bath depth is controlled by your down comer "riser" height. Not the risers under your caps :handgestures-thumbupleft:

That'll work fine, doesn't have to be that much if you're worried about it, like I said above, it's the down comer height that sets your bath depth. The deeper the bath the less flavour carry over.

Oh ok so how did it go from building my risers to bath depth lol I'm lost now as I don't really understand how caps actually work

So to be clear what do the risers under the caps actually do is there a rule of thumb for a two inch cap if that makes sense

Should I just drill a few holes around the top then
