They are very well made, like the rest of the FSD gear. To be honest I still prefer my perforated plates, a bit more touchy to run, but Im used to them. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Oh nice I don't feel so bad how big are the holes and how many are there wish I had money to just buy one this build is taking me forever

Ideally you want as much open area in the sides of the riser as you have in the ID of the riser so it poses no restriction.

IE if you have 20 square millimeters in the ID you need to have 20 square millimeters of open space in the sides.

Riser heights dont set the bath depth, correct, the downcomer height above the plate does. But the rise still should be higher than the downcomer +/-5mm

You could just mill it like you have marked out but the middle bit does not need to be as thick as you have it, just enough to get a thread in is fine.

Yeah it was only rough to postage question its not even straight so now I'm confused I'm told the holes r ok and what I've marked is ok so no idea what to go with

So if I make that mark 30mm and mill what is above it and when I make the downcomer make that 25mm above the plate?

Do you understand what role the riser plays in the running of the still?

Not really lol I try to read up on it then just get confused as

Its the upward vapour path in the plated still. It also injects the vapour into the vapour path above the level of the liquid.
It is then the job of the bubble cap to move the vapour back down through the liquid which both flavours the vapour and acts as a distillation cycle. Vapour turns to liquid then when it exits the bubble cap it turns back into vapour.

This repeats for each plate on the way up the column it then hits the reflux condenser, which turns most of it back to a liquid ( the amount varies depending on temp of reflux condenser, which is controlled by cooling water flow) it then drains down through the downcommer on each plate. Downcommer is there to stop the tower filling with fluid. It also sets the liquid level on each plate

The liquid falling(reflux) also cools the rising vapour which in turn pulls more liquid from the rising vapour which increases purity of the ethanol vapour..

I think he meant the size difference between the riser and cap but i may be wrong..

If hes woried about turbulance there will be turbulence regardless.

Whole principal is it will load a small amount of backpressure than bubble through the liquid bath. Regardless of where or how it exits the riser. This will happen. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
