Good start :handgestures-thumbupleft: you don't see many many folded easy flanges any more, they're a lot stronger but harder to get straight. Keep it up.

Some progress on the weekend, I learnt one thing my soldering need some work. The RC is coming up ok but the easy flanges are not as easy as I thought, two of them popped open while hitting them flat so I'm trying to fix it in place without cutting the end of and starting again.

With folded easy flanges like yours, the sealing face is the folded 4", not the ring...

Might be easier to get the rings flat first, the fit them over the 4", then fold the ends over?

Can someone please tell me which thermo do i need to purchase to fit into the 2” section?

If I had the chance to get my hands on some 6” or 8” copper would it be worth putting a section in the column or would this cause other issues?

You could use it as an inline thumper.
Generally it is too costly to make a column out of for hobby levels as you will also need to match heat input and boiler size.
not to mention tri-clamp costs.
Up to you though, if your wallet can take it go for it.
6" column and 100L boiler is generally considered the top of hobby levels.

Thanks mate, what heat output is required? Also was just thinking maybe the bubble cap section to be 6 inch if it could improve product and speed. If not I’ll stick to 4”.

3600w would be a minimum for a 6" at a guess, dunno but, not many people run 6".
But just weigh up the cost of fittings before you think too much further.
Easy flange dimensions change at 6" as well.

If you can run a 50L wash in 3-4hrs with 4", 6" won't be that much faster with a 50L boiler, 6" really wants an 80 or 100L boiler.
Which means bigger washes but less frequently, but would still take that 4-6hr mark depending on quality your chasing.

Here are some pics of the boiler with all the holes cut out. Was thinking of putting a thermo down in the wash, what do ya reckon?

I have a 100lt boiler and was looking at 2x3600w at least. If I can get some I’ll have another think about it. Thanks mate

This would have to be one of the slowest builds ever, but I finally got some time to do some more today. When I get my boiler back from the shop I will run it like this as a pot still and then eventually I will buy some bubble tee's. I cant wait to fire this up.
