You're a machine Lowie, you'll be bubbling soon! Have you got a wash on ready for a sac run?

I figured if I do some of the brides jobs on the weekend and still stuff after work I'll be right!
Yep, got the wash on mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Problem is, 5 Star don't have any sight glasses in stock for a few months, and no packing either :handgestures-thumbdown:
Any idea where I can get this stuff from in the meantime?

I'd be making some copper discs as blanks till FSD get your sight glasses in.
Yes you won't be able to see the bubbles or fogging when in tails but at least you'll be able to run the beast straight away :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Made the PC last night. Found my little centre finder tool that I made when I was an apprentice. Knew it would come in handy one day! It's a bitch when the tubes move after soldering up one end, used three screwdrivers to straighten them up.
Silver soldered the flanges and the pipe fittings to the copper tube. Soft soldered the rest.

Made the Blockhead tonigth. Check out the flare on the body, it's called a t-drill flare. Used a lot in the shipbuilding industry. Pretty nifty hey. :happy-partydance: Just a pity my mate didn't have the tool to do 4" flares

Fitted a 1/4" ring to the inside of the Blockhead to hold the Gin basket.

Here's where I'm at, at the moment. Tools down for the rest fo the week, on the turps tomorrow night and the bride wants me to some work on the bathroom on the weekend ( might try to fit a spirit run inbetween her jobs :happy-partydance: I've got enough 4" copper to make a fifth t piece (still got a 500mm packed section to make), question is, is there any value doing so?

You're smashing it mate!

You should hit azeo with 4 plates and 500mm but it'll be cleaner and quicker with 5 plates (+500mm) for the sake of an hour in the shed, I would make the extra one.

I'm going to make a 5th plate + packed section in one module when I get some more 4".

How are you planning to make a packed section and module all in one Zak?

I'll make a 630mm module, put a sightglass on the bottom and a retainer plate for my packing 130mm up from the bottom :handgestures-thumbupleft: just saves me a clamp and seals, and If I want to run 5 plates without packing I'll just remove the mesh.

So what's the go with running a blockhead when the oils drop back into the boiler. Is it just a matter or rinsing the rig and boiler out with cold water after the run to remove the oils or does it require something else? I'm concerned with having left over "smells" for other runs.

The wife's new power tool finally turned up yesterday so I promptly got stuck in and finished my tees. These dremels are bloody good, don't know why I fucked about with a shitty Ozzito for years (well I do, it was cheap...) :)) next up finish the Blockhead and make a start on the gin basket. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

So much for the Dremel. Fucken thing shat itself last night :crying-blue: so I took to the wire wheel and polished up my stuff instead and trialled a dummy fit with seals. Picked up the bubble plates fromk a chinaman for around $50. Looks like I'm going to have to mess around with the seals and bubble plate fitment to get the column straight as each section is square by itself.

I like bling...finished the packed section last night. I'm thinking of using volcanic rock (coz it's cheap). Anyone got an opinion on that?

Last piece of the copper puzzle. I'll mount it on a piece of wood.
On to the stainless now. I've got a 50l keg that needs a good seeing to this weekend!
