Ho?w High is an FSD Eliminator

Postby Yurugaboy » Sun Apr 23, 2017 9:51 am

HI,
I only have a 2.1 ceiling height for the still area at present.

I want to see if an FSD 4inch eliminator will fit on the FSD 50litre milk can and fit in this space?

I know the Neutraliser wont fit as its over 2.4m inc boiler.

Anyone know?

The FSD packed section is 500mm, from memory, so if the neutralizer is 2.4, the eliminator with 4 plates should be about 1.75ish.

You could go for a blockhead top to save a few mm too :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I reckon you'll squeze one in to that space.

You can reduce the height a little by:
- using a blockhead which is a tee section with a plate on the top that replaces the upper reducer and 90 deg bends.
- having a 4" still connection on the boiler to eliminate the need the for the lower reducer.

By doing a rough calculation as follows:

Block head 150 mm
Reflux condenser 150mm
SG Tee 150mm
SG Tee 150mm
SG Tee 150mm
SG Tee 150mm
100mm 4" section of pipe at the bottom to hold the bottom plate
and a couple of mm for each component to allow for the seal and 5 or 10mm at the top for the plate and the clamp that holds it on

I get approx. 1020 for the still

The 50l milk can is (i think) 635

so about 1655 with a block head but I would confirm that with 5 Star.

Cheers,

I was sure mac told me it was 635!

Either way it would still fit under a 2.1m ceiling.
