Inline thumper deep bath design questions

Postby bluc » Tue May 09, 2017 1:30 pm

Ok so planning stage of a 4" bubbler. I have some of macs 2" caps for my plates and I am going to do a 6" inline thumper. With the thumper can I just use the two inch cap dimensions and increase the bath to 120-130mm. Also would there be any benefit to running two of them on the 6" plate ? The standard plates will just use a single 2" cap. Plan on running 2400-3600w. will take some experimenting to get it where I want but these are numbers I see on here all the time.

Also from a safety perspective of puking safely. Do you fellas think v notchs or slits are the way to go in the bottom of the cap. Cheers

Sounds more like a 6" bubble module than a thumper, it won't hold enough liquid.

That was my thought too. You really want an inline thumper to hold all of the alcohol in the boiler, so about 5L. 6" with 130mm bath depth will hold under 2L.

I would have thought 2.5l would be heaps of volume full charge of a keg your only gunna get about 3.5l at 95% alcohol out of it. I thought rummys was 6" about 140mm bath depth

Which rummy? So many here... can you put a link up to the thumper you're describing?

50 litre charge @ 10% will yield 5+ litres of product total (fores included) and you need a little space above the cap for vapour to rise...

You want something like Nuddy's but being 6" it will have to be taller to be a true inline thumper.

 Are you planning on running the thumper under the reflux condenser or on top of it, like a traditional thumper???
