Perforated & bubble cap plated columns

I was thinking 5 plates on a plate tree. Then there would still be room to pack in 500mm of scrubbers above the top plate if you wanted them for neutrals. If not, leave it empty and just let the vapour pass unhindered. What sort of price did you get on the 105x5mm tube? I was looking at around 220 for 1.5m of 105x2mm i think from a lab supplier

Awesome. The more i think about it the more im keen to go in that direction now. It looks like 3mm ptfe tube is about 15 to 20 a metre. So its a cheapish build.

I think it is white. Magnus used it to seal between the plate and the glass.

I would still like to do a bubble cap rather than perforated. Just can't see myself drilling all those little holes. I saw a design where the downcomer came all the way down to the next plate, and used the bath fluid as a vapour lock. Have any of you guys seen this done? Is it feasible?

Sorry for the newbe question, I did a search and checked out the glossary but I can’t find what PTFE stands for? There is one explanation I found that’s got lots of scientific names that went in one ear and out the other. Might be one to add to the glossary maybe?

Polytetrafluroethylene? Everyone knows that one don't they?? Lmao :laughing-rolling:

It just rolls right off the tongue right?

White plastic stuff that doesn't leach nasties into your grog is what it really stands for. :handgestures-thumbupleft:
