Bunnings now do welding gas. I don't know the exact details but I've heard it’s pretty cheap. I'm definitely going to look into it. For you guys out there that are with boc, I've also heard they've come good with their prices because of bunnings but they aren't changing them for anyone with current bottle hire unless you ring and ask. I'll definitely be ringing the buggers, they've been over charging for years.

Yep they signed me up on a "D Plan", which is $165 for a D size argon cyl for 12 months with a free refill. but after you use your 2 cyl's it's roughly $165 for another cyl of argon.
Now all the practice welding I did and the 5 ss flange sections I've done, i've used up pretty much all of the 2 cyl's in the d plan. So as BOC want another 160ish for another d cyl or they reckon $168 for an E cylinder plus the rental, I'm not sure if I just ditch BOC now and go grab the bunnings cyl...

edit: Oh yeah bunnings cyls are a $200 deposit thats kept by them for the whole time you have their cyl; and its a swap and go for each refil for $99. Oh and when you first start and pay your $200 you still pay $99 for the first cyl of gas.

I was told by the guy at sydney tools that the tradies have been telling him that the bunnings gas (supplied by coregas) is not as pure as BOC and they use it up quicker than the boc stuff.

I'll probably stick with boc anyway cause we have a depot here in town wheres bunnings is 100km away and that would be a pain to run out mid job :laughing-rolling:

Ah too easy. Yep im trying to work out whats cheaper, boc E size or bunnings d's...

just been working on the PC...

The rings were made from 1/4" air cond pipe.

I cut out the bubble plates on the weekend...



and the end plates for the PC..

After building my 4" bubbler with non-folded easy flanges, I have gone back to this folded method for my next build. For the little bit of extra time it takes, they're heaps stronger and seal better.

So next I solder the rings?

Only other problem is I don't have any triclamps to test it yet

I would wait until you've got your inners in there and solder it all in one hit.

I've just finished the PC and I'll post the pics in a sec...

Ok, the PC is done. But it needs cleaning up, which I will do tomorrow...











I ran the hose thru the coolant ports and not one leak :)

Parts left in a citric acid or vineagar solution for a day or so will be easier ta clean up ,rub stainless scrubbies all over a few times as well ,also found a stanley knife will shave off soft solder bumps too,ya killing the build ta boot.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks Hillzabilly, I've got citric and vinegar for cleaning copper parts too, so I'll do that tomorrow. Just need some ss srubs.
