My baby

Postby Yurugaboy » Tue Aug 22, 2017 6:42 pm

Hi all-
Here is my dependable and nearly 6 run veteran FSD.

I have a gin caddy I put on and off above the RC.

I am slowly learning her ways.

Nice set up Yurugaboy.

Those milk can boilers are dead sexy. Photos don't really do them justice.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

I thought the boiler was good too but great to see it went to better home with someone that would use it :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hey Yurugaboy nice setup, I'm looking at starting gins soon too.
What do your botanicals sit in? Just the gin caddy? Or do you use the botanical basket also?
Thanks

Hi Marcus- I sit them in a cotton in the gin caddy above the RC. Just bought a small hop sock from HBS to try them in that. I put in mid heads.
Works fine.

Hi wobbly- I love it she's so reliable. I put conduits on the leads and that's all. She is easy to clean and works a dream. Thanks for helping me out. Done about 8-10 runs now 2nd gen rum run last night, turned out better than 1st. Done a few gin spirit runs and slowly getting it worked out.

Thanks again :handgestures-thumbupleft: :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I have 2 sections with perf plate in them. I left copper mesh in the top one above the RC and added the botanicals into the top so it sits on the mesh under the 90 deg bend going to the PCA. I put botanicals in after returning to full reflux after fores and after first one or 2 cuts in spirit run. The spirit run I use 30% low wines that have had 4 plates run already . You get a large heads section and Ai stopped to soon at 65% in tails.

A lot easier than taking off the gin caddy that the pc is still attached to. I use blond chaps recipe and it's great. I only used the quantities last time for a 25 l TPW , when I needed to multiply it more to match the 6litres I made. Botanicals were nice but I would have liked them longer. Don't waste bots on fores.

Gin is my interest at the moment. I'm thinking of adding a 5th bubbler and my packed section to try one pass Gin,but still be clean.

Thanks man. Yes gin is interesting and is awesome on how many different ways it can be made.
I've also read somewhere that using a large stainless tea diffuser ball can also work.
But the gin caddy kit with the blockhead does look like the go :handgestures-thumbupleft:
