Yep but not sure how much I'll need yet. I'll give it a run on the boiler I've got and see if a 3600 and a 2400w will be enough, should be :handgestures-thumbupleft:

How are you sealing the plates and rc against the column. Love the tree design, always worried about how it will seal.

With a tight fit and the weirs will help. The rc doesn't need to be sealed to the colomn as the cooling will make the vapor condence and not let them pass :handgestures-thumbupleft:

A few laps of thread tape around the plates will sort any gaps out.

How do you hold the pipe while drilling the sight glass holes? Pipe is soft as and not sure how to hold the 4" while drilling..

Thanks Bryan but the holes are done :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I just layed it on the ground and drilled them with a hole saw. It will give your wrists a work out but you'll get through. I just put a foot either side to stop it moving. Take your time and you'll be right.

When you say your pipe is soft do you mean copper in general or is yours annealed? If it’s not annealed it is tougher than you might think :handgestures-thumbupleft: I've got holesaws that have pretty big teeth and grab quite a bit and it didn't seem to distort the pipe at all. I've found copper to be pretty good to drill and cut until it is annealed then I've had problems with it taring and distorting.

No not annealed. I am worried to clamp it in case I push it out of shape.. :laughing-rolling:

Just lay it on some old carpet and put a foot either side and you should be fine :handgestures-thumbupleft: unless 4" behaves different in some way?

One step closer. Got that bloody tree in eventually, what a pain in the ass. I had to do it twice in the end, first time was waaay too tight and I ended up pretty much destroying the bottom plate trying to get it out. Most of the caps broke off in the process as well :handgestures-thumbdown:

I got the rc fixed to the cap and made a handle for ease of removal :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I've done a mock up but I'm short a couple of sight glasses. I'll do an order to 5star tonight to get them as well as a couple 6" clamps.

Drew up the templates for the cones I need for the pc and one to fit this oversized monster onto my keg boiler for a trial run.

Getting close now :happy-partydance:

It’s not part of the tree anymore. It was ment to be but the tree is way to hard to get in with that attached as well. I have used a couple of threaded rods to help attach it to the top cap for strength. The rc slides in easy and has plenty of room to move. It doesn't have to seal against the colomn as the vapor won't pass it once its on :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Looking good!

Love the brushed copper look! :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Is it foolish of me to want to build a 6” ‘Swan-Necked’ pot still? They just so pretty...

Looking great mate but is the rc sealed somehow at its base? If not couldn’t the vapour bypass it up the gap between the outer wall and the inner wall of the column?

Since you have a bubbler I would say you dont want a pot.
But on the other hand you could wack an inline thumper on it and a shotgun condenser and you may be onto something..
