Right guys I'm about to rip this still off it's bloody mounts and throw it outside and drive over it with a darn tractor! :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead: :angry-banghead:
I can not for the life of me seal this 6" up. I've sanded the flanges flat, made several spacers to take up the slack in the clamp and it still bloody leaks. How tight can I go on these triclamp? Can I put a spanner on them? I have but haven't gone overboard. I've tapped all round the clamp while tightening but still no dice.... frustrated as!

Sorry for your frustration, mate. Your efforts have been inspirational to say the least...

Is it possible to use cork? Totally left field here, but would that be a possibility to flesh out the gaskets with said cork?

I know it can't be composite cork as they use glue ... but ...

Well I just got the shits up and used a spanner and belted it with a hammer and it seems to have worked. Old theory of if it don't fit use a hammer, if it still doesn't fit use a bigger one!

Now I've had my little tanty I'll drain this vinegar crap and throw some faints in it and see what she does :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks for the reply Ezi :handgestures-thumbupleft:

:D yer but @ $100 per 200mm of 6" copper pipe ... it may need to wait ... :laughing-rolling: No scrappies locally... and with the amount of plumbers getting sacked for the suspected 'relocation' of copper pipe, especially the big stuff, I've NO chance up here!

Its easier to get illicit drugs than copper pipe! :teasing-tease: :laughing-rolling: :teasing-tease: ... :crying-blue:

BTW: not sure if the 'Swan' part of the pot still is of any real benefit? I guess it'll give it a little passive reflux, but only in winter :laughing-rolling: been working in 47 degrees all day... nice balmy day!

The swan may not make any difference to the run but it does look good, does there have to be any other reason :laughing-rolling:

Well here it is boys, finally got this thing bubbling and it is impressive to watch. I haven't played with it much but first calcs tell me it's doing 93% at 8.5 lph  I imagine it will come down as I get everything working how it should and to avoid smearing but impressive none the less.

I had 2400w on and about 150 volt on 3600w. I stripped the tails at full power and it just poored out. Got a bit of playing around getting the settings just right next run but I'm keen to see what she does with a good wash.

I'm just glad the plates loaded and she ran properly. Looks like the weirs are doing their job and it's holding a bath quite well. The rc might be a bit big and is slow to adjust but I sort of knew that might be the case while I was building it. If it bothers me I'll just cut it down a bit. It was a bit of an unknown build but I stumbled my way through and it seems to have payed off so far :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks for all the help guys this sort of build wouldn't happen without you lot chipping in and helping out and all the great threads on this forum guiding the way.

Now I just gotta finish off my parrot and then onto a bigger boiler :handgestures-thumbupleft:
