Woodduck absolutely stoked ya got it running. Been watching this build and loving the updates. You’re got me very interested in cracking on with a 6” still. Got myself an 80L keg the other day to start with and build it up from there

Running a CFW at the moment. She's settled in nice at 93% at 6 lph. We'll see what the cuts are like tomorrow but should be ok. It had good reflux as well as output. The rc is pretty touchy so may need to go to a needle valve. Over all I'm pretty happy with how she runs :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I think I'm starting to get the hang of this rig. It's taken a few runs to get everything lining up well, power, rc, reflux, abv and take off rate. It's a bit of a juggling act. Too higher take off= lower abv because of less reflux. More power= more reflux and faster take off which can cause lower abv so then need to adjust rc to slow take off rate and lift % etc etc :-B , all makes my head hurt :laughing-rolling: . But it seems to like 6000w and 4.5lph at 91%. I would like the % a bit higher but I'm not complaining.

Nice one woodduck. You have to be happy with 4.5 litres per hour.

I found with my neutraliser running 4 plates and packed section with 2400W I get 94% at around 2 litres per hour. if I push it to 2.5 l/h the ABV drops to 91. I haven't tried with a controller yet as I'm fairly happy with those stats and I've only just gotten my controller.

Cheers,
Prof. Green.

First run with neutraliser 4 plates ans 600mm, we were pulling a 200ml jar every 4 to 5 mins at 94. Running about 75 percent of 2200W with the needle barely open. Tis a fantastic still.

And woody, I love your still. One day I'll get up the courage to actually build my own.

Thanks guys

Professor, yep gotta be happy with the numbers she's doing so far. I'm not too stressed about it as I really need a bigger boiler for her and thinking of a completely different power source so the learning curve will start all over again once that happens :laughing-rolling:

Orcy, the neutralizer would be a fantastic still I'm sure and by the time you build one the price would be bugga all different I recon. I build because I love to not because I recon they are better. So when the time comes and you decide you want to build one I'm sure you'll enjoy every minute of it. You get a great feeling of satisfaction when it all works out :handgestures-thumbupleft:

4.5L/h, holy crap!! That’s a 300ml jar every 4 minutes, no time to sit down and enjoy the bubbles :teasing-tease:
Got to make me a 6” one day, congrats mate

How does it compare to the glasser flavour wise?
Sorry if I've missed it, but what size risers did you use under the 2" caps? Slot size?

Not sure on flavor yet mate haven't done too many runs and nothing's been aged long enough to know.

Can't remember exactly what size risers, 1 1/2" I think.
Slots are the norm, what I did on the glass duck :handgestures-thumbupleft:
