If you have a flat surface, you could try wet&dry figure 8’s to give the flange a flatter surface, will take a while though.

My baby is shy. Thanks hilzabilly for pointing out the flooding issues of having downcommer up into riser. She ran like a hairy goat top plate flood then drain middle would flood then drain then top again then bottom. Al sorts weird stuff this was during the cleaning run. So I took plates out and chopped the tail off the downcommer so there is now a gap between downcommer and riser. It now runs very stable at a touch over 2400w and spitting out about 2.1l per 50mins. I didnt get a shot of the plate bur I will get one when I clean up my backlog of wash to show the difference. I think I am also gunna have to bite the bullet and get an ibc..bubblers rock my world :handgestures-thumbupleft: :laughing-rolling:

Glad ta hear she is up and running, when I did the thumper downcomer I thought I nailed it BUT on the first run she flooded and messed the fuck around ,was a real worry warching that level riseing wondering ifn something was gonna blow, after 6-7 changes it eventualy worked well,it is a strange mix of pressure and fluid dynamics plus the heat and vapour energy too,I am sure there would be some crazy calculations ta work it out but that is beyond me ,I just find that you have ta build with hope sometimes and be prepared for some tweeking along the way to get things humming.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Freaks me out every time the plates flood... but then you see the ‘blub-blub’ and she’s all good again... usually starts with our AGs just before we get into reflux...

I have a water regulator on the rc but washing maching toilet etc all affected it.

Might not even need an IBC.. we use a 220L HDPE barrel...

Irun my pc off a 220l blue barrel. Rc off hose. I thought the barrel would get hot to fast heating up and throwing the rc setting out of wack... but if you can...

in the height of summer it gets a little hot and we are going to do something with an AC or a radiator but we've managed so far....

Ezi how long between runs? Have read you can do 2 runs back to back with ibc with a day in between to cool back down. Can anyone comment on that?

can't kick-over an IBC ... :laughing-rolling:

But to be fair, if the hot goes in at the top and you draw the cold from the bottom it should last you all day! Then combine that with a cool environment and you should be able to run it continuously , provided you don't need sleep - or do short distilling!! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
