A short piece of pot belly chimney tube or similar ,capped and fitted to the roof of ya shed,or one of those spinning vents,may be another option.cheers hillzabilly ;-)

1 dig out the area that the still will sit. The easiest option but would require an inline pump to empty boiler.

2 lay a couple courses of bricks under the base of the shed. This would require you to get a cpl mates to lift the shed off the ground and chock it up with something while you lay the bricks. 2 advantages of this would be no pump required and a big fella like you would have more head space lol

Or jack up and lift the roof.. these things being discussed

Shuffled my clamps round and had enough to put the three plates ane blockhead together with the end cap on bottom. Filled it with water and one of my ssg's leaked. Was a stubborn leak but I won in the end..

Glad I did it today and not on the day of my first run. Will play with some thread tape on the plates tomorrow to get them holding a bath..

Thanks to coffee I now have a piece of 4" smidge over 600mm. By time I square ends should be bang on 600mm. Will allow 100mm for a sight glass and a plate and the other 500mm will be a packed section. I should just have room if I swap my bottom spacer for a bowl reducer. Either that or source a better boiler with a 4" or bigger ferrule. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Or ya could just make ya packed section 600mm ,less work and maybe a slightly better purity,have found the 2inch caps to give slightly less ABV than multi 1inch caps,but seem to be able to sustain a faster production rate,my opinion is four 2 inch caps and a 600mm packed section ,will work very well for neutral wich is the only time ya need the extra plate anyway.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Hmmmm time for a 4 x 4” glasser!?!?! Ours are 100mm high (each glass) where as the ‘T’s are more like 150mm ... so each 2 ‘T’s would equal 3 glass sections...

Could you leave enough space 100mm or so in the bottom of the 600 section before the packing to allow for a 4th plate.

There is no real need to leave room for another plate if making a 600mm packed section as that extra 100mm is worth 3 plates.
The normal length is 500mm remember.

You reakon 3 plates and 600mm is enough?
I always thought they didnt act the same packed section was to remove flavour and plates are to carry flovour over but also to seperate fractions..
4 plates to seperate fractions then 500mm packed section to turn it into neutral..

As I understand it, the column acts as a whole, The packed section is continuing the fracturizing and acts as the additional plates for HETP, plates are really just a different way of achieving reflux, with the flavour bonus

Dropped my blockhead section yesterday dinging up the flange good. I panel beated it best I could. But it leaks. Wrapped it in plumbers tape leaks a lot slower like a drop every 6 secs. Any other ideas how I can seal it. Worse comes to worse as it is brazed on I will have to grind it off and add a new one. :handgestures-thumbdown: :oops:
