Thats good to hear woodduck & db, i got some of those seals coming! :handgestures-thumbupleft:
Got back onto my RC last night and finished her off. Had a couple leaks that were only small and hard to pinpoint so i pressurized it with air and that showed them up real good. With those fixed i think she's good to go.

Hardest part of soldering this together was not unsoldering other bits.

I did put a baffle in mine but didnt solder it in completely, just a couple spots to hold it in. It was fairly snug in there around all the pipes and outer edge.

Got my tees all finished today. Actually got them out in good time by the end, once i got the hang of controlling the solder and where it flows.

20180224_204311.jpg

Once i soldered on the 3" i then cut out the center with a hole saw and grinded back with a die grinder. These things save so much time and do a hell of a job.

One thing i did notice today, solder flows and sticks so much better when you wipe down area with fores before soldering. Didnt have any troubles at all, where ever the flux went so did the solder. Great advice hillzabilly... :text-thankyoublue:

How do you go doing the easy flange rings on sight glasses when they are in place? Wouldn't it have been better to easy flange them first?

Good point bluc. Could probably solder some pre-flattened rings on easily enough.

Not planning on doing easy flanges and tri clamps for the sight glasses at this stage. Just trying to get some materials for my plans atm. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

It should be possible to flatten some hard soldered rings on a 4" copper pipe blank and then transfer it to the sightglass tee. Maybe. Haven't done it myself but I recon it would work.

DB:
That is essentially how i make my pressed flanges.
Middle of my forming die is the same as 4" pipe OD, so once they are out of the die they are good to go, amd a nice push on fit.

Dan:
Just be careful using a copper former when making your rings as i found they tended to compress a little and once you take the ring off its quite hard to get them back on.
I had the file the ID on mine when i did it, i recommend using a flapwheel in a die grinder and never stopping in one spot for more than 0.5sec.
This way it will be enlarged evenly and you wont have lumps and bumps to make flat again with solder.

Thanks for the advice scythe... :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Got onto my blockhead tonight and got a fair bit done. Just need to put a flange on the 2" pipe and she is done. It will be good to get my clamps so i can put her all together and see how she fits up.

Got some adapters yesterday to make a 2" to 4" adapter to go on my keg. I did order a 4" ferrule to use but I'm thinking i might just weld it on to the keg for a access hole. Ill weld a bung on the bottom for a drain point.
