My sight glasses ended up coming in the snail mail this morn to my surprise.
Just finished putting them on..and broke one :angry-banghead:

Lucky i got a spare which saved my bacon! Slightly marked the edge on one and when i clamped it, it cracked nicely.

Looks smiko best you order some more glass now :D

Ive got a couple more things coming so i can add to that.

Just need to make another cap for the top of my blockhead and i can give her a run.
I filled her up with water and all my sightglasses were water tight, just had a leak on one of the seals between tees.



I plan on shining her up a bit too when i know everything is right.

Very neat! I had mine on wheels that unfortunately didn't survive so now I have a wooden impromptu box that it sits on... so, because I love the simplicity of your still-legs, I may borrow that idea, coz tis a good-un and I wish I had thought of it myself... :D

I find that copper looks good both ways, polished (ala Milky on the portal) or just brushed... brushed, tho would hold on to more grit I'd imagine...

I'm stoked how its turned out, will be even better when i can run it.

The legs are just made up of some exhaust tube of what ever size you like. I think mine are about 2 inches in diameter. I did originally think of getting them welded on, but thought better of it if i want to make any changes to them... so i just put a 1 3/4 inch cut down one side and then one halfway through the pipe. then i just opened that up to create the 2 flaps to screw to.

I just got the exhaust tube from a local exhaust center, they get a heap of offcuts that they sell for bugger all.
My plan is to get some rubber caps for the ends when i get a chance.

Is it just teched-screwed on or is it a nut&bolt job?

Im curious as to how strong they are? As in stable... is the pipe notched to lock the base of your keg onto the legs? Or is it just the screws olding the legs?

The legs are just tech screwed on to the keg, not with a standard techscrew though. They are heavy duty techs. The weight of the keg is sitting on the leg and there certainly aint no wobble in them. I was going to use 4 srews in each leg, but it really didnt need it.

Im just hoping the plates all do their thing properly. Looking forward to no more stripping runs and a bit more spare time... do more important things like taste testing! :laughing-rolling:

You'll be fine, just follow mac's instructions. I used to run mine without sight glasses and while the learning curve was a bit steeper it was still easily done.

I was more referring to manufacturer faults... but i have read macs instructions a few times and they are fairly simple. Once ya got it coming out the pc at the right flow... dont touch it!!

Got home late last night to find my still all nicely covered up!



I said to the mrs the other day about needing a cover made and she quietly went and made me one. She obviously isnt just good at mending my ripped pants. :laughing-rolling:

Yeah but sight glasses will help you identify problems and determine solutions far easier than not having sight glasses. Plus you'll know your bubbler inside and out cause you built it.

Like the cover was only thinking of this the other day. Good work :clap:
