One of these days ill get round to making one!
Ive been spending my spare time having a crack at malting my own barley and making a mill. Keen to give AG a try.
If i bugger the malting process, ive got about 20 ton to play with :laughing-rolling:
So far its gone pretty well, the acropsire is about 50-75% of grain length, so close to drying.

Looks great mate! Maybe a bark wrap around the keg for insulation and keep the natural look going :handgestures-thumbupleft:

On a side note, any chance you could grow a field of 6 row barley next season :think: can we even grow that here?

Could prob manage some bark round the boiler atm... my woodshed is full of it after cutting wood the other day.
Definitely could grow six row barley out here. Had some self sown growing a few years back in some seed we got from a neighbour and it grew fine.

I’ve found it impossible to source 6 row locally, maybe some other forum members are after some for a premium American style AG spirit?? :think:

The only six row barley we have now is a feed variety... not for malting. All the barley grown out here now is all 2 row.

Ran a CFW through my bubbler on Sunday... all i will say is she's going down alright!
Only thing that annoyed me with the run was the adjustment on my rc... needless to say i just finished changing the tap over.

Good to hear she's going well mate. I'm quite partial to some cfw white dog myself, a touch of lemonade bloody delicious :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Im curious as to how strong they are? As in stable... is the pipe notched to lock the base of your keg onto the legs? Or is it just the screws olding the legs?

The legs are just tech screwed on to the keg, not with a standard techscrew though. They are heavy duty techs. The weight of the keg is sitting on the leg and there certainly aint no wobble in them. I was going to use 4 srews in each leg, but it really didnt need it.

Where did you get the heavy duty tech screws and do they have a special name? what size pipe you use? Like this idea and thinking of doing the same.

I think we got them from just a local hardware shop. The brand name on the box is buildex. The exhaust pipe was about 2". They are working well for me... def strong enough, anymore would be overkill. I just need a flat board with wheels to sit her on.

Cheap doesn't really pay off... not in my experience anyway. The dopey bloke i am sometimes, still test that theory though! :laughing-rolling:

Yer, we bought SS long nuts of eBay as well as screw-in wheels. One by one the bearings started popping out and spilling a wash down the front wiped out another wheel. Pretty soon all bar one were cactus and we just stripped the lot.
Currently we are using a palette bearer-box, hastily knocked up and haven't done anything about it since. That was nearly 2 years ago... :angry-banghead:

Tax time is shopping time, just need to measure my boiler (Nathan Keg) to get the right size. I want to combine that with your Exhaust legs and just combine it in a solid way...

I doesn't take long to get tyred of lugging around a heavy boiler.

Ran the bubbler again yesterday, but this time i had a gate valve on the RC. Big improvement! Had it running smack on 2.5 ltrs/hr without too much adjustment.
Not sure what i was thinking stuffiing around with a ball valve. :angry-banghead:
