You gotta make a few blews... how is everyone else going to learn? :laughing-rolling:
Got a couple more components somewhat done. It a pain when your minus one component that allows so much to be finished off. The joys of living in the sticks i suppose. :))

The top plate of my RC has little offcuts of copper wire plugging 3 or 4 holes... You can't see them with the still set up!

When i first checked the one end of my pc it leaked like a fountain!
Trying to only fix one hole and not undo all the other solder done right gets interesting/ dam frustrating, especially when all the joins are close together. :angry-cussing:

most times its easier to pull it apart and start again than chase holes. as Bluc has just gone through..

Looks like you guy's are useing sanding discs on an angle grinder, one problem with them is they can leave a plastic paper residue on the copper ifn they are old or worn out with the backing exposed on the edge and ifn ya get them too hot,I would always go over with course emery paper then medium inside and out and wipe down with leftover alcohol.cheers hillzabilly ;-)

Ive actually been mostly using steel wool and wet and dry sandpaper. Grinding discs cut into soft copper way too much for my liking. :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Been in the shed last couple hours and my PC is done... and leak proof at this stage! :happy-partydance:

What does the residue do to the copper hilzabilly? I used one of the hard plastic flap type discs on mine. Think its a scotchbrite :-B

I think it does not help solder stick and burns during heat up leading to holes and bits were the solder just will not take.cheers hillzabilly :handgestures-thumbupleft:

I wonder if that was part of my problem with my PC. I originally used the worn flappy disc & green scourer. Subsequent cleanup was wire brush emery & files. It just took ages to slowly work heat into the solder being careful not to desolder everything else.

Got a crack at my easy flange today with some 1/4 inch pipe. Got both flanges done on the one tee. All the solder went on without a hitch. Just gotta get the rest looking the same.
It will be good to get my tri clamps so i can put it together and see how it all measures up.

Nice one mate :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Just be careful you don't go too thin on the easy flanges till you have a clamp to test them. You can always flatten them a bit more but ya can't make them fatter very easily. Not saying you have but just a little something I learnt from experience :handgestures-thumbupleft:

Thanks blokes! :greetings-waveyellow:
Yeah... thats a good piece of advice woodduck, cheers.
Is there a rough measurement the 2 flanges need to be to be a nice fit in a clamp? I do have some coming from 5 star.

It'll also depend on your seals. I've found that the epdm seals with the ridges removed work well with easy flanges.

:text-+1: with db there, those seals are good. If your going to use silicon baking sheet you will find it is thinner so your flanges may need to be thicker. From memory my easy flanges are 2.5mm at the outer and taper to around 3-4mm close to the pipe. These links may have a photo that might help. I'm sure you've already seen them but just incase.
